Parks

Escape to a local park, or spend some time exploring one of our state parks. Located just steps from hotels, shopping and attractions you will find Lafreniere Park and La Salle Park. Lafreniere Park, nestled in a residential area, is beautifully landscaped with open green spaces, soccer and baseball fields, a carousel, family picnic areas, children's playground, a fitness path and equipment, as well as a 20 acre lagoon winding through the park with several species of fish, and home to a park favorite, ducks! LaSalle Park, located adjacent to Zephyr Stadium, home of the N.O. Zephyrs' Triple A baseball club, features a fitness track, baseball, soccer and lacrosse fields. The park is ideal for tournaments.

Visit Barataria Preserve of Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve located just outside suburban Marrero on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The Preserve offers a taste of Louisiana's wetlands. Enjoy the serene setting as you fish for catfish, trout, and perch. Visit Bayou Segnette State Park nestled in the natural beauty of Louisiana's swamp lands, a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. From the boat launch, you may explore many areas not readily accessible by land routes. Both salt and freshwater fishing are available, as well as boating, swimming and making a splash in the wavepool. Take a trip to Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island, Grand Isle. Grand Isle State Park features a 400-foot long public fishing pier where it has been reported more than 280 species of fish live in the waters surrounding this sandy isle. Boat charters are readily available for your fishing excursion, or you can unwind with a walk along the beach or on the park's nature trails. Boating, swimming, and other water sports are plentiful, as well as crabbing.
