On Saturday, March 28th, 2015, the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Task Force presents the “I Remember…” Art Exhibit and Wetlands Festival. The event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve at 6588 Barataria Blvd., Marrero, LA from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Jefferson Parish President John F. Young, Jr. will be in attendance as the exhibit’s key note speaker following the festival activities.The art exhibit will feature environmental portraits and landscape photographs by Lane Lefort and oil paintings by Marian Brister Martinez. Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant in Bucktown will host the sixth-annual Pinch A Palooza Festival & Crawfish Eating Contest, a free street party celebrating Louisiana music and crawfish, on Sun. April 19. Pinch A Palooza will feature six bands and a full afternoon of activities. Free entertainment for all ages featuring music by six local bands, a performance by the 610 Stompers and Mardi Gras Indians “Big Chief Romeo Bougere and the Ninth Ward Hunters,” kids’ games and activities, and photos and hugs from Deanie’s mascot, Pincher the Crawfish. In addition to boiled crawfish prepared with Deanie’s signature Creole seasonings, fest-goers can enjoy a variety of crawfish dishes made famous by Deanie’s Seafood such as Fried Crawfish Tails, Crawfish Balls and Crawfish Nachos. Hamburgers and other non-seafood items plus beer, soda and specialty cocktails also will be available.New this year, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts’(NOCCA) Boxcar food truck will add non-crawfish food offerings to the festival. The Great Huey P. Long Bridge Run, a 5K run/walk, celebrates is third running on May 9, 2015. The event celebrates the incredible widening project of this historic bridge, enhancing its place as a featured icon on city’s skyline since 1935. Runners will enjoy a professional race experience and the first 1,500 finishers will receive a commemorative pint glass for making the crossing, an event tee and a post-race celebration with local music and dishes (some for free and others for a fee). Runners and walkers will make this exciting crossing of the wider-than-ever bridge while reminiscing old times on the Mississippi River. In 2002 a dad, Brian McAdam, decided to create an event to encourage kids to get outside and explore the beautiful Louisiana Outdoors. He recruited other dads with the same passion and a rodeo was born. Thanks to this visionary group and the hundreds of volunteers and sponsors that have devoted themselves since, this non-profit event grew every year and has evolved into the Jeff Fish Fest & Rodeo.With over a hundred kids fishing every year and several hundred adults it is recognized as one of the premier fishing events in the country.

Jeff Fish Fest & Rodeo
