JPAS to recognize local performing arts celebrities.

METAIRIE (LA), March 5, 2014 - Jefferson Performing Arts Society is seeking nominations for individuals who are involved in the arts to participate as a
JPAS Celebrity for 2014-2015. These individuals will be included in the 2014-2015 Season Program, In Performance, which is viewed by 20,000+ patrons.

The 2014 JPAS Celebrities will be presented at the Annual Celebrity Tea planned for September 24th, 2014. And also presented at the 19th Annual Pasta & Puccini Fundraising Gala, October 24th, 2014 at the Marriott Hotel, New Orleans. }

JPAS Celebrity Tea is a special event to showcase Honorees benefiting the Jefferson Performing Arts Society.

The JCVB would like to congratulate JPAS Maestro Dennis Assaf for receiving an award from the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT). The AACT Distinguished Merit Award is presented to individuals and organizations in recognition of contributions made to promote and develop the highest standards for community theatre.

The Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) has an exciting season with performances at the Performing Arts Center located in Metairie on the east-bank of Jefferson and at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre and Teatro Wego! located on the westbank of Jefferson.  There is something for everyone, drama, comedy, kids theatre, and holiday presentations!  Call the box office at 504-885-2000 or visit www.jpas.org for complete details and to purchase tickets.

jpas showThe Jefferson Performing Arts Society will be presenting a hilarious, yet informing play about the land of the brave and the home of the greedy. The Complete History of America (abridged) will run for three weekends in June and July. Performances will be June 26 & 27 and July 10-12.
With a special Bar-B-Que dinner performance July 3rd.
Performances will be held at Teatro Wego! 177 Sala Ave. in Westwego.
Performances begin at 7:30pm. Sunday, July 12 performance is at 3:00pm.

From Washington to Watergate, yea verily from the Bering Straits to Baghdad, from New World to New World Order - The Complete History of America (abridged) is a ninety minute roller coaster ride through the glorious quagmire that is American History, reminding us that it's not the length of your history that matters - it's what you've done with it! Featuring the talents of three local New Orleans actors!

Blueberry Hill features classic New Orleans R&B songs made famous by local musical icons like Fats Domino, Irma Thomas, Ernie K-Doe, and many others! Not a revue type show or a retelling of the history of the recording business, Blueberry Hill instead tells a new story of everyday people who find themselves dealing with love & betrayal, laughter & tears. Audiences will find themselves sharing in the joy and sadness onstage and singing along as the plot takes some unexpected twists while bringing to life the songs they know and love.

Few places offer the chance to escape...the Jefferson Parish Library is one of those places!  Locations throughout the east and west banks of the parish feature meeting space, business centers, teen centers, children's wing with storytime and puppet theatre.    

Guest speakers and storytellers are often part of the Louisiana experience at one of our 16 locations.
